How is cellulite classified?

Cellulite is a disease that, as we have seen, mainly affects women (although men are not completely exempt from it) and which mainly appears on the hips, buttocks, and thighs.

Those affected have, as a distinctive sign, a skin characterized by light dimples, better known by the expression “orange peel skin”. At a clinical level, however, cellulite is characterized by subcutaneous micro-cavities located perpendicular to the skin.

The classification of cellulite

According to the scholars Nürnberger and Müller, there are 4 levels of cellulite.

  • Stage 0: characterized by the absence of cellulite.
  • Stage 1: smooth skin that presents the condition of orange peel only if pinched.
  • Stage 2: skin with the evident presence of dimples.
  • Stage 3: skin with the evident presence of dimples and nodules which, if stressed, can be painful to the touch.

The causes of cellulite are many: genetic (capillary fragility, circulation), hormonal (excessive estrogen activity which leads to water retention), vascular (slowing of blood circulation), stress and bad eating and behavioral habits (tight clothes, alcohol abuse, excessive consumption of sodium or sugar and smoking).

To combat cellulite it is important to follow good eating habits and practice sports regularly. Physical activity serves to keep the skin and muscles toned and elastic, especially as we age.

To defeat our enemy, however, it is good to know him: contact thermography comes to our rescue, a preventive analysis system based on the use of microencapsulated liquid crystal plates, capable of changing color depending on the temperature they come into contact with.

In this way, the operator can detect the stage of the cellulite (oedematous, fibrous, or sclerotic) and its distribution. Furthermore, contact thermography makes it possible to detect the presence of cellulite even when it is not yet visible to the naked eye or detectable by palpation to act in a preventive perspective.

Once the starting condition has been identified, it is possible to take action by contacting a good nutritionist for the appropriate dietary indications, as well as an aesthetic center, or aesthetic doctor, for the most suitable treatments for our type of cellulite.

Really useful tool to make customers perceive the before and after. With these tools, customers are certainly happier and in fact, I have sold many more treatments. I point out that after 7 years the plates, perhaps due to the high use, have started to deteriorate.

At our center, we have recently decided to offer our customers a specific service to combat cellulite. We carry out a preliminary analysis to show the type of cellulite present, we draw up a targeted training plan and then, every two weeks, show the improvements with subsequent analysis.
